widest tire for 6" rim

I must be missing where it is stated above.

P225/70R14 Rim Width Range (inches) 6 - 7.5

I know this seems to be pushing it. If I can find where BFG states 215 is the largest then I will buy a set of 215's

Adam R already mentioned it... But I think we were both just talking from past experience and not a specific manufacturer's spec.

Keep in mind that's a 70 series tire. Since the series gives sidewall as the % of width going to a 225 wide 70 series will give you a taller tire than what was original, a 225/70/14 will give you a 26.4" tall wheel. The higher the series the more sidewall, so you end up being able to run a wider tire because the sidewall has more flex (not necessarily a good thing). I did notice they also list a 225 for a 6" in the 60 series, which is fairly generous for a manufacturer recommendation, but I guess I'm still getting used to running 14 and 15" rims with a high series tire (my old srt4 ran 17" rimes with 45 series tires, biggest for a 6" on that is 215).

Also each manufacturer is different. If you want a set of BFG's, I'd go by their recommendations. You can usually run the next size above those recommendations without too many ill effects, but I wouldn't go higher than that.
