Holly carb running rich

Im experiencing ritch idle also, but runs great @ higher rpm`s. I have crane, 284. edelbrock rpm air gap, holly 770 street avenger, tti headers. Im not a tuner, but would like any advice on this setup, 69 340 x head. 2nd gen A body. over carbed? bad cam choice? shitty throttle response, have to rev high to get going. also 4 spd. Thanks[/Q

This is the same thing I was dealing with. I took it Tommy Corbett he is a master at carb work. He understands what it takes. This motor is a 408 w/ a 508/ 511 solid lift cam w/harland sharpe roller rockers w/236/242 @50. fairly small cam. It makes good vac. this may add to the problem. That also means that it was put together right. It is a holley 780 street advenger. The heads are from Indy and are somewhat stock w/202. Some people need to know everything but when Tommy says this carb won't work w/ any setup I know he is right. If you need to know just what he did I will try to find out. He is not the kind to get on here and argue over what is right and what some other people think are right. I hope I can help someone out with this same problem.
