Slooow download??

How did you find them & remove them? Is there a shareware program somewhere that would help? As far as reformatting, that's gonna wipe everything off of the drive. I have a peripheral backup drive. If I reformat & then restore from the backup, would the virus be stored on it & reinstalled? I can't even use system restore because the only admin account we have on here gets a blank page when we try it. No restore dates to pick from. :angry7:

I'm hoping to have enough money after the holidays to replace this computer. It's four years old & that's ancient as far as computers are concerned.

Actually Norton showed they were there. It just couldn't do anything with them but when I typed in the name (what Norton called them) on microsofts website it told me how to remove them. I had to start it up in safe mode to remove the bad stuff. Of course you have to know what it is to remove it. Have you ran Norton to see if it shows any problems? Sorry I don't know of any freeware for problems like this. There is one registry problem repair aid I know of but it's not free but if I remember right it didn't cost much. It's called MaxPC. Even after I got the viruses out of my puter it didn't act right. Hanging up all the time and such. I downloaded MaxPC as a last ditch effort before I junked the puter and it found 290 some problems in the registry. After it did it's thing it works good now. Here's the link to their page

Good luck.
