Norton doesn't show anything. I bought & used RegCure. It found close to 700 registry problems (IIRC, might have been a lot more). Had it fix them. No noticeable improvement to the PC. Couple weeks later it finds about the same number of problems again.

Wow that's sure allot of problems. That's strange how they show back up a couple weeks later. maxPC seemed to fix them for good on mine. After about a week about 3-5 errors show up on mine but that's about all and that's probably due to what TomT966 said on how things work in the registry. If it were mine I'd try using the opperating system disc to repair the system and if that didn't work I'd reformat it even in spite of having to reload stuff. At least if you reformat it and reload stuff new the probability of it working right is pretty good.

I wish I had something better to add but that's about the extent of my computer knowledge, what little it is. Maybe somebody else has some better suggestions??
