Dextron VS FA

If you can still find Dextron !!! it is a type A/Mercon fluid. I run the racing clutches and that is what John said is the best fit. I was looking into even the very costly type 6 full allison synthetics etc.

Also I went with Penzoil. All the new Valvoline fluids smell and look a little burned out of the bottle. Anyway John had mentioned that and I too noticed in the past year Valvoline fluids smell funky.

Yeah whatAdam said OK with it it is your call, but I think atf3 or better and bottom line is not burned, keep it cool and change often or within reason if you drive the hell out of it or have a very high stall convertor. it is mainly the heat that hurts the fluid. i think all modern fluids are pretty good for the most part. I know that only a few of the newer mopar and Toyotas have to have the specialty fluids, and the allisions have to have that very costly full syn blends or they burn up. But on a 904 or 727 as Joe and Adam said you will be fine. These guys and me included all run them for years with no real issue. I have been racing and building these things or about 32 years and ran F i nthe old days but I think that was in the past when the parts and fluids were much diff than today.
