30 years between runs

Will try to keep it short but I can personally relate to going to the track after 30yrs, reasons for safety changes & 10sec. street cars in 80's. Grew up cutting my teeth on the street in the suburban Washington D.C. area in the late 70's early 80's with my 69 440 coronet that I got down to the low 12's. Used to gather on the then new dullas toll rd.for street races & hit 75/80 dragway when we could. Had about 4 or 5 10 sec. cars that I remember, none being a mopar. Had my friends small block vega, a wicked 427 powered 63 1/2 ford galaxie, a 68 or 69 vette and a bad *** 70 buick GSX that were out and about all the time. Was at 75/80 in oct. of 83 for a street wars chevy vs ford vs mopar 2 day event & did nothing out of the ordinary on my first pass but blew a front tire at about the 600' mark lost control & hit the guardrail and was ejected from the car. Broke my right femur, smashed 2 disks in my back and shattered my rt. elbow. Lucky it was not worse. I was just using stock lap belt . Did not go back to the track until last year with my cuda. I appreciate every safety measure that they now require.
