I know you said you wanted to stay away from aluminum, but I went with the 1/2" Summitt aluminum fuel line. It was real easy to work with. To insulate it I took 1/2" rubber hose and covered it in that. It worked like a charm.

I went with stainless steel brake and fuel lines throughout my Dart. SS is a little hard to bend and it's best to have the flaring done by a shop. I had -6 steel ends welded to my hard lines and I'll connect using braided line from the fuel pump in and out. I'll also go braided from the hard line in the engine compartment. I got all my lines from FineLines.
