trans or converter slipping???

Well, the best way to check the trans is to look in the pan for debris. Also, take a wiff of the fluid, that will tell you in a hurry if you are burning clutches. Last but not least, pull the trans and do a "biopsy" on it: take it apart and look at the clutches.
