Cam Selection

I am planning a mild rebuild of a 318. Headers, intake, carb and cam. I plan to keep the stock pistons and heads. Yeah, I know, stock 318 heads suck. It's a $$ issue. Anyway, I am stuck on the cam choice between the vfollowing 2 cams.

Duration @ 0.05 Lift Lobe Sep Ang
Int Exh Int Exh

MP 759 221 228 0.430 0.450 110
Comp 262H 218 224 0.462 0.470 110

I am leaning towards the 262H because it is a newer grind profile while the MP759 is the old 340 cam.

Comments?

As you have a choice in cams what are the centerlines of both cams as this moves torque around and the power band also. If the centerline is higher on the first cam then that cam will be more streetable, because the cam from comp will be 4 degrees advanced as they do all there cams this way. If the cam from mopar is straight up like 110 int.cl and 110 ex.cl then this cam will be more streetable, it may not give you the lump that you want but then it would work better with the 318 heads.
Being that you have 318 heads don't shun them so fast as long as they are going to be used on a 318. As they have some very good characteristics that are very benificial to the 318. If you have to use the stock manifolds then the comp cam would be the way to go as the less duration will make the manifolds work better, the manifolds will kill all the sound and make it sound stock, but will help with the torque. With the manifolds and small cam the engine will run out of steam around 5000-5500 rpms.
