Deal ,steal or so so

I had a club cab 1999 Dakota with a V6. My friend with a '98 with a V8 got around a half mile less her gallon. It always seemed like the Dakota was laboring, not quite the correct word, to maintain 65 on the freeway. I blamed it on the lower power of the V6, aerodynamics of a brick and weight. Overall, I can't complain, it towed my tent trailer into the High Sierra's without much of a problem and I could maintain 55 on that killer climb out of Bishop Ca. Don't know howmany Caravan's and Windstars I passed like they were sitting still.

I'm just trying to say don't let a perceived savings in gas dictate the V6, you wont be saving much. I thought I would when I bought the truck...should've plunked down the extra couple of hundred for the V8 option.
