Just my opinion... I can understand having to build a car for an index. I think it has just morphed past what was originally intended. You build a car to run a second at least under the index because you have to have the mph on the big end, and it has to have that power in any weather. I don't believe that much has to do with anything but electronics and engineering now. For some, that's the coolness factor. I'd rather see that car run all out to 8.90s and slow down in the heat. It gets to be IMO fake and boring to see all that power bolt off the line and then glide...
