Hey all, does anyone know if 70-72 340 Dusters had a factory PistolGrip shifter? If so where there many of them put out? Thanks.

I believe they came with a Hurst shifter, and they are still available ....oops my bad...they only have them for the b -body cars

As already stated, they were only ( as fars as i know and seen ) for the b bodys and e bodys. I would like to put one in my Dart. You can get them in aftermarket, not too sure who it is that sells them, but have seen them. I believe they were going for a couple of hundred for just the handles.

Pistol grips were never in A bodys, but look very good in there. There are several sources to these shifter handles including MoPar themselfs. They sell them complete.

Thanks for the replies. There was one on E-bay the guy said was out of his 72 Duster. And on American Muscle Cars on Speed there was a 72 Duster with one too. I didn't think they ever came stock tho. Thanks again.

If you want to put one in your A body, don't use an E body pistol grip. They're too short. I'd say a 71 B body non console would probably be ok, but you're really on your own. Year one probably sells them. They take stuff back, so you could probably try it out and see if its to your liking.

the shift rods on the b body shifter will be to long for an A body, other than that they work , as far as i can remember, its been awhile

I just happen to have a nice one right here. Just the handle, with NOS , not repro, NOS grips on it. I bought 3 or 4 pairs of grips 20 years ago, I ordered 1 set and more came in so I bought all of them. Still had 2 pairs in my dresser. These were in a car for a month. So technically they are used. The chrome bezel has a small crack in it, so a new one is included. Also a chrome screw missing, I lost it ? $275. My buddy has one in a Dart Sport, it's a bit of a stretch, unless you have long arms , but he loves it.

Here is a picture of my last set of NOS grips, still in the bag with the part # on it. Like I said , they have been sitting in my dresser drawer for 20 years.

that one looks very close to the one that came stock in my 65 cornet...383 b-body 2 dr post car ...wish i still had that one too
the one in that car wasnt a pistol grip , but is was the longest handle i have ever seen. hit the dash with your knuckles every time ya banged it into third...

you need a body bench seat pistol grip for a bodies I believe.

E body or B Body(71-74) . They really mixed them up. This is the same as the one that was in my 72 RR/GTX. Orig 440 4 speed car. It had buckets and a console.
If I knew how ebay worked I would list it there. I have some NOS eblems for RR's and GTX's also.

You've got my interest picked Fastback! I remember seeing a Dart in a magazine years ago and I'm pretty sure it had the ebody pistol grip. Looked sweet.Any idea what the interchange is like? I think I've got a super shifter on the tranny now. Would the pistol bolt to the shift mechanism or are they different? I may be down Brantford way on Saturday, Smithville isn't much farther,is it. Pm me please! Jim

Drop Paintshop101 an email @ ps101@satx.rr.com... This company knows what they are doing when it comes to Mopars. Check out their website and give them a call and talk to Steve and tell him Rick Harvey sent you..

I bought an E body shifter and they are way too short. So I boought a 71 B body shifter. When you hold the A body shifter up next to the B body shifter they are real close in shape. The B body pistol grip part of the shifter extends up about where the A body shifter ends. Nothin' like a pistol grip in a Mopar. I won mine on Ebay. They usually go around $150. to $175. for a handle no box or linkage.

Doesn't some guy out of Washington state sell custom ones. i remember seeing them...he has any color composite grips, chrome etc. They looked really tight.
