Question on windshield rubber

I bought a new rubber for my 1941 Chrysler and when it arrived it looks like its cut from a roll. My question is being it is not vulcanized as 1 piece what can I do to make it 1 piece. I dont know how to vulcanize it and Bernbaums says to just silicone it together whick to me sounds kinda butch.
