Comp Cams Xtreme Energy

HAhaha :-) Thats a good one! But I would like to go with Moper's theory. It all depends what you call excessive and acceptable noise. Yes you are right. The noise varies between certain rpms and loads. Mainly around 50 MPH which is about 2200 to 2500 rpm. At idle there is no noise. Up high rpm the engine is all one noise I dont think there is excessive noise ( quite exhausts do not help. You can hear everything). And it does sound like a ticking noise but all of them consistantly. I think the cast steel rockers could be making the noise. I have the Mopar performance black rocker covers on it. I don't know if that makes it noisy aswell. As far as spring pressure is concerned, I think 270 Lbs is quite enough for 5000 redline. 345Lbs is alot of pressure and promotes extra wear on lobes. Noise does not change if you put 1/4 turn or
1&1/4 turn preload ( I left them at 1/4 turn). Coil bind was at 0.540 lift which is well within spec. My other engine was much quieter but not as radical nor a Comp cam aswell. I suppose I am expecting this engine to be the same. NOT! I think I have created a monster. I think I should worry about breaking an axle instead.
