I think bracket racing is the only thing keeping the sport alive. A lot of tracks have Sportsman classes (13.00 and slower at my local track). Sure they don't pay as much, but it doesn't cost as much to run a car either. The old factor and index system was arcane any limiting.

There weren't many snowmobiles running low nines back in the old days either.
