Incompetence Rant

snake, you should have done it yourself. i do these cars cause i love them. but i dont know of anyone who does the kind of job you are talkin about for that kind of money that aint some kind of hack. i'm doing a 79 t/a bandit car right now and the guy has almost 1500.00 in materials. if you know anything about body at all you know that black is the hardest color in the world to do. i set a price at the start of the job, the dude pays half and i don't expect the remainder till he is happy. your car is b5 apparently(hides alot of stuff), but if i was doing the job, it would not be screwed up. but i also tell all of my customers that we are friends when i start, and we are going to be friends when i'm done. if you have a problem with the car give me the opportunity to make it right before you go talking crap. it there is a problem with the body work i will fix it on my dime, if the finish has a problem, because i use the best materials that money can buy, the manufacturer WILL stand behind thier product. period. i run a small body shop on the side. i don't do it to make a living. i have a real job(not body or paint) that i pay my bills with. so i dont have the overhead. and i never will. it takes care of itself. or i wouldn't do it. NOR WOULD MY WIFE ALLOW IT. and i certainly would never, ever air my problems in an open forum. i full on understand your position, and wish that every body shop was in my position, it would never come to this. but if you are serious about your car, YOU will fix it and, learn from it. in 30 years of doing this i've had one customer come back mad. i ate the job and redid the car at my expense. he left happy and i felt better too.20 YEARS LATER WE ARE STILL FRIENDS. you may have gotten screwed, but you learned something too. i guarantee it. incompetence is everywhere, there is no escaping that, you should have brought it to me. i'd have done it right, once. and been done. it takes me some where in the neighborhood of 4 or 5 months to do one. how long did he have your car 2, 3 weeks maybe?
