Engine compartment detailing

My suggestion is to find a good automotive paint supplier and grill him with a lot of questions. Ask about compatibility of primers and paints, epoxy vs. polyurethane vs. enamel, etc. If you have a Harbor Freight close by and own a compressor (or have access to one), take a look at their small spray guns for detailing. An engine bay, fender wells, and firewall have a lot of nooks and crannies to get in and under, with not much room to work. The small guns are ideal for that type work, plus you can mix a smaller quantity of paint.

Also, make sure you use a good quality seam sealer and go back over any seams or crevices that make have developed cracks over the years. Now's the time to do things right. And contrary to mikedevore's opinion, my personal taste is that the underhood color should match the body. But, that's merely my opinion.

I'M SORRY, I SHOULD HAVE PROOF READ MY OWN OPINION! I AGREE , THE ENGINE BAY SHOULD BE THE SAME COLOR AS THE REST OF THE CAR!
