rings without pulling

Guys used to brag years ago about replacing a piston without pulliing the engine. As was said earlier it would be impossible to keep things clean and think about torqueing the mains and rods while lying on the floor. You would be having bearings slipping out, it would turn into a nightmare. MY .02, Its bad enough with the engine out.
