1971 dart/swinger...340 4-speed...car (APPRAISAL ) - $12000 (GRAHAM)

CALL FOR DETAILS....
253-875-3645
APPRAISED AT $21,500
THIS IS THE ONLY KNOWN CAR OF IT'S KIND IN EXISTANCE TODAY!!!
AND IT'S " PLUMB CRAZY " TOO......
CALL NOW.......

The VIN has to start with LL23H1R or it's a clone. Adam is correct, there were only 75 made (all 340 "H" code) and they are referred to as "Canadian Specials" (there is a emblem on the front fender even saying "special")
Another feature that they have, that supposedly ended in 1970, is that they also have a bumblebee stripe. This one is not the only one left in existence as I personally own one, as well as I know where there are at least 7 more and I've heard of at least nine more that exist. But, there are not many left. If it's plum crazy it's probably a Saskatchewan (Crestview) car as most of the hi-impact colored cars went there. But the serial # will tell for sure.
So, let's see some pics......... is it a numbers car?

Talked with this guy the first part of last month. He's trying to sell the Dart so that he can buy a streetrod from a local guy here. He wanted to know if I was interested. looks like he's come down in his price. From my discussion with him the car is a clone. I told him I was a very familier with the Canadian 71 Darts. I've seen pictures of the car and it's nice but not an original. 71 Darts with a 340/4 speed transplant aren't going for those type of dollers. It's my understanding that all of the 75 cars that are left are still owned by one person in Canada.

This car is a clone. He has been trying to sell it on Craigslist for a while now. He bought it a few months ago off of Craigslist in Oregon for 6,500. At first his posts said "clone", now he appears to be billing it as the real deal. I don't know about the appraisal, but dart4forte is correct in what he said about the price for a '71 340 transplant.

I saw that same car at the Salem show several years ago. If memory serves me right the floors on that car have issues. I personally don't know this guy but when I first talked with him he gave me the impression that it was a legit car then he started talking "Tribute Car" which to me is another way of saying clone.

A clone is pretty much as close to a real one as anyone will get because they are so rare. It is a fact that there were '65' Canadian ordered Swinger 340 Specials to 2 Western Canadian dealerships but as everyone knows, these cars were driven into the ground (young drivers could afford them and the insurance). With that said, we have only been able to locate and verify 19 of them (so far). So, if anyone out there sees an H in the VIN of a 71 or 72 Swinger Special, let me know. Please. Oh, and I did say '72 - I have one - may even be rarer. Cliff

i have talked to that guy, he is a real peice of work!!! thinks because he swapped a 340 into his beater its now a 340 car. pretty rude when you call him on it too.

being in western Canada i have seen a bunch of 71 340 darts over the years, i know where are a couple are. seeing this post reminded me to go check on one. not sure f its for sale or not but have to ask will check in the next few weeks.

what would you guys pay for a clean FACTORY 340 4spd 71 needing a resto but complete and solid? 10g out of line?

I had one, too. 71 Swinger Special( note emblem on fender) 340 auto. EV2.Took off the one remaining scoop while I awaited the delivery of the last NOS scoop avaiable in Canada from Western Dodge, Moose Jaw Sk. early 80's, spent nearly 20 years arguing it's existance to the Mopar "experts". But it was all original...and very fast...didn't know what I had back then...o ya...paid $350.00 for it...thought it was too much!! c'est la vie!

I had talked to a guy from Canada at the MATS and he had two of these cars, he's only got right now. But "he" said that there were only 65 of the 71 340's built for Canada, but who knows.

This very same car is still floating around on Craigslist. My buddy went to look at it a few months ago. It is a clone car but it was very hard to pin the owner down about that. He didn't want the term 'clone' to be used. He tried to trade it for my buddy's '41 Ford and wanted a bunch of cash to boot. The car looks decent but the bodywork is not top notch. It kind of has those waves in it down the side if you know what i mean.

About a year and a half ago, a buddy gave me a 71 Dart Swinger, The back half was in horrible shape, but what was unique about it, It had the GT package, bucket seats, center console, rally dash, Tuff steering wheel..... and it was a factory slant 6 car!!! My other buddy who bought it from me, said he had never seen that combination before. and he is a HUGE A-body freak, Car was green with black interior.

THE CAR IS A CLONE. The owner needs an integrity check. The car needs work to be worth 12,000.00. I looked at it/drove it before this guy bought it and passed at 8,000.00.

Hey Chrisf, I'm new to this site/forum and am very interested in more info on these 'couple' 71 Swinger 340 Specials you have known/know about. What part of Western Canada are you from? There are 2 of us (me in Alberta & Dale in BC) that have become the unofficial historians on these Special order 71 and 72 factory hotrods so anything you can feed us as to the authenticity of these cars, that would be awesome. In my research, there are two confirmed '71's and one '72 in BC and the rest scattered across AB, SK, MB and the US for a total documented 19 '71's and 9 '72's so far so keep your eyes open, there's a few more out there.

The vin on this clone starts with LL23C1R. It was originally a slant 6 car.

Sorry Adam, I don't believe I have any documentation remaining for that car. Last I heard it was in Aylesbury, Sask, painted white shortly after I sold it. O-ya..I sold the matching number 340 for a 100 bucks,,,blown head gasket...thot motor was toast! Sheesh. Put in a crate 340 I bought from Chrysler in the car and sold it. Dumb!:glasses9:

By the way, Adam, The website you quoted earlier in this thread...the 71 white 340 pictured, belonging to Merv Ritter, I've seen many times before he sold it. I'm a friend of Merv's and have been to many of his Mopar shows over the years, and we've been to a few shows together years ago..Edmonton, Alberta, for example.
