I have the opportunity to buy a bare A body 8.75" housing. Can I use brakes from an 8.75" equipped C body if i get custom axles? How much wider would this be than using the stock A body brakes?

I recently bought a 65 V8 Dart parts car with a 273 and 7.75" rear end. The brake drums are bigger than my /6 wagon's 7.75" rear end had and are bell shaped like the A body 8.75" rear end brakes - can I fit these to the 8.75" housing?

All bodystyles brakes will work as long as they are from a 3 inch axle tube reaqr end, includeing 8 1/4 8 3/4 D60 9 1/4 . I used B body 8 1/4 on mine. Shock plates fit too. You will end up 3/4 " wider per side with the B or C brakes and axle setup. -

thanks 440 Scamp, guess I'll have to be pretty careful with my wheel and tire choice...

A nice thing to remember is that 10" rear drums don't fade except in very extreme situations, still have enough grab to lock the *ss end up, and you can raid them off '80's 5th Avenues and cop cars. Also, you won't have as much rotating mass to play with (faster acceleration and braking) as with the 11" drums.
