Haven't worked on drum brakes in years. After replacing the shoes, get the adjustment in the "ballpark" (slight drag) then the final adjustment takes place after applying brakes while moving the car in reverse? True or false? Thanks in advance.
Being an old fart, I've done more than a few drum brakes. I adjust the star adjusters while checking the back and forth movement of the adjuster by prying it forward and backwards thru the adjustment slot to make sure I get then tight enough. If you adjust them and just go by sound or a slight drag, you might get a false reading if the brake shoes aren't centered when you adjust them. Then after you drive them a few days readjust them after the shoes seat in.
