Dots at 6 and 12 but rotor not in right place.

One of the main reasons that they put it at 6/12, because it's easier to line up the dots. After you put it on you then spin the engine 1 full revolution and you will be at #1 tdc. Drop the int shaft and distributor and point it at #1 intake bolt.

Remember, #6 is 1/2 way thru the firing cycle.

I was waiting for someone to point that out. This is the main reason,less chance of getting it a tooth off.
