Dots at 6 and 12 but rotor not in right place.
this is exactly how i have always built mine just how i explained in my post and and it has never ever popped back through the carb unless the dist is in 180 out but even then i just pull the dist and flip it arround and try it again your distributer drive dont have to be pointing at any piston or another if you install it like this just make sure it is pointing at the #1 spark plug wire on the cap this aint rocket science guys
This is the way I have set up all my smallblocks in the past and I have never had a problem.
