I had a call back at one of my buildings, last night around 10pm.
On my way home, an '05 Mustang kept driving like a hot dog,
down El Cajon Blvd. He was a young guy and with his girlfriend. I'm thinking
I gotta embarass this ying-yang in front of his lady. I was in my work
truck an 88 Ranger w/ a warmed up 5.0. Anyhow, I caught him
at the next lite. Either he did'nt notice dual exhaust on my truck, or
he's a little naive, but he was laughing at me at the light. My truck is a
beater, but it runs extremely hard, I've got a reflashed computer
and its dyno tuned. So, I feather out the clutch and gas not
to blow the tires off, and I just nailed it down hard. It took off like
it was shot out of a cannon. I think he was on the side of me for about
a second and I just walked away from him like he was standing still.
We got to the next lite and he was shocked, he would'nt even
look over at me. He was probably thinking that this beater truck just
spanked him , and his brand new car.
I just love doing that to new cars especially imports , I paid 400 bucks
for my truck 4 years ago
dropped a v-8 and rear gears in it and thats it.
Speed is cheap, if you know what your doing. I still have a 5.0 Mustang LX coupe, stock bottom end, plus I'm ramming 10psi of boost
through it. Its a fun car and I can still jump in it and drive 500 miles.

sweet. back when i was in high school i had this 71 charger with a 440 in it. i had traded my 67 cornet for it (mostly for the 440 of course). anyway, i had just learned how to brake torque this automatic (different story) and was driving a friend home. as we approach the red light i see this little black rustang that was (according to my step-brother) oneof the faster known cars in town. any way i told my buddy, this guys gonna want to race. sure enough the passenger sticks his head out the wondow and says "yah wanna run em?" admittedly i did tell him a cop had just passed us bye. his response? "hes gone". "ok" was my answer. so instead of flooding the charger by slowly holding down the gas to the floor, i just pushed the gas peddle down about two inches. i heard the little horse next to us getting reddy as well. the light turned green, i smashed the gas peedle to the floor and my charger just exploded out of there. the little black mustang was just back behind us spinning his tires. we both got giddy and where high five'in each other. we smoked him so bad we decided to drive real slow the rest of the way through town thinking he'd come up saying "lets go again", but he just stayed back there. it was fun. later as i told my stepbrother about it he informed me that mustang was supposed to be one of the fastest cars ni town. before that race i didnt know how to launch the car.i really thought i was gonna loose for some reason, but when we jumped outta the hole so fast i was just amazed. the old charger had more get up and go than i ever imagined. i know street racing is illegal, but theres just something cool about pulling up to a light and racing the car next to you. ive never raced at a track (i know its the proper/save way to race) but street racing was fun.

Last street race I was in was against a Neon SRT4. I was so far ahead half way through 2nd I let out of it. That was on the E70 14s, smokin all the way. The guy had his old lady in the car too. Moral of the story is don’t judge a car by its old school tires and hub caps. Looks like grandmas car but smells like Sunoco 110.

I like coming beside them "real slow" a rumbling and a rocking and then bark it once. When they look I just smile (Ear to Ear) and most of the time they just look straight ahead.

wow loved the storys.I live in a colladge town 25 miles from george rays drag strip.heads up racing.I love doing lites in town, just to keep my reaction time in tacked, two weeks ago my wife and I were in town and a sharp 70 or 71 comero at a stop lite pulled up next to him gave him a thumbs up on his car then inched up to the line in my grand chereeke and he moved forward to.green lite got a full length on him.the next lite, here we go again, beat hime ot again.my wife told me Ive still got it.look up wild cat racing ,george rays I have raced there and is a grate historical place, the oldest and longest running dragstrip in america.located in paragould arkansas.I learned alote there, iceing down fuel and intake took a full sec off my j stock auto 70 barracuda.CANT wait for new season.ONLY WAY IS A.MOPARmike

I love hearing these stories. It reminds me of back in the 70's. When I got my Dart together in 92, I told my wife I wouldn't race it on the street. No one ever asked me to run when we pulled up at a light. And I figured my wife would kill me since she is usually with me and dosn't get into running light to light. Well we were coming back from a car show and I noticed in my mirror a Mitsubishi all decked out next to my buddies 70 Torino. Well he seen me in front of him and came up next to me. His girl friend gives me the thumbs up. Then he starts hitting the gas. I look at my wife and she says your not going to do it are you? Well he shifts it down and pulls ahead by half a car. It sure didn't sound stock. I just left it in 4th gear without dropping it in third. I just pulled away from him like nothing. I looked at my wife waiting for her to start yelling. And she was smiling. The guy came up next to us and his girlfriend gave us the thumbs up again. They were both smiling. I felt like a teenager again.

nice story, nice to see the good sportsmanship from the other guy. keep em coming guys. we should start a street race thread?

I hardly ever do little stop lite blasts, I just shake my head at
some of these people, that put exhaust systems , and a cold air
kit and think they just added 100 horses. I'm not a big believer
in bolt- on parts, why waste all the money, buy 1 thing like a
blower and be done with it. I have another 5.0 that I bought new
in 1990. Its got every possible bolt-on upgrade possible from
fuel injectors, throttle body, mass-air and so on. I spent a lot of
money on all this crap. I bought my 5.0 coupe bone stock about
4 year ago, bolted on a Paxton SN-2000 blower, and exhaust and thats
it. Everything else is bone stock, computer, injectors and intake
The coupe will blow the doors off the car with all the bolt- ons!!!
I'm at the track every few weeks and I recommend that all
the racers I chat with, that have stock vehicles "Put a Blower on it".
If you want bolt-ons, build a long block where you will need bigger
injectors and so-on. I put the blower on in one afternoon,
all those dang bolt-ons took me a couple weeks!!!
