Guys, my 70 Duster 340 has the original flat hood, under the

hood, there is no underlayment padding, it looks nasty and I want

to have under the hood painted car color. I can't tell for sure

if there ever was padding before. I think there was, I did find a

some plastic caps. Any body know for sure ???

Thanks

The original flat hood on my 72 340 Duster does not have any mounting holes in it for the plastic retainers. I've never seen an original 340 car with the underhood insulation. I've only seen it on non-performance oriented cars with options like A/C, P/S and bench seat V8 cars. You know, cars with "creature comforts". The underhood insulation was not an option on any car that was equipped with cold air induction (any kind of functional hood scoop). All that said, if you want it on your car, why not add it.

Thanks for the info. I don't want it on the car, but if it came
with it I would put it back on. As for creature comforts, its got a
heater and AM radio. Thanks again,
