It is true that if you win, you get the other car.
I talked the person that raced his car on the show. Hewon the other car. His will be on TV some this month.

what i would like to know is, the guy who loses his car, is he paid for his car by the show or the network? i can't believe some of the reactions from these guys. if i lost my pride & joy, i would not be happy! just think of the time & money put into some of these cars. the only time i ever saw some one lose something & they wern't upset, means they didn't have any thing in it!

What I can't figure out is some of these guys let someone else,

race there car!!! What is up with that !!! I would'nt let

anyone race my ten-speed bike , let alone one of my cars for

ownership. I watch it but not one of my favorites.

I watched a re-run last night for a few minutes, another thing that
puzzles me is, Why is there 20 crew members per team???
Its not like they are a Funny Car or Top Fuel team.
I am at the track twice a month, one buddy has a 9 second Duster,
another a hi 10 '68 Charger, and lastly an 8 second Mustang. We all
help each other if needed, but there is not 25 guys standing around!!
I'm confused????

Orangedust it's about face time. They, Pinks, ask you for a list of names so you can enter the pit area and we all know how many friends we have all of a sudden that want to partake in "helping".
572 is correct, you win the other car and there is NO payout to the loser for the cost of his ride! I talked with Rich the host of the show personally and at length about this. He said its not about one guy risking his car putting it on the line and all that money he has in it in a gamble. Its more designed for people to get a few guys together and throw something together and put it up. Obviously, only someone with lots of coin could just go it alone and say what the hell but thats there gamble if they want to. My buddy raced on Pinks and they filmed him at Atco NJ in October. I went and watched the finish line to mark lengths off for negotiations. He had a fox body mustang 6 cyl behind his garage so we all threw some parts we had at it, stock 302, high flow carb, roll cage, pumped it full of NOS, and slapped a paint job on it. He won a camaro and sold it back to the owner after air time because he used the loot to pay everyone off for there contribution and then bought dinner and drinks for us. If we had lost then we were out individually and that was our gamble. It was fun, honestly it was and for any racer it gives you a litte braggin rights with your buddies until they blow your doors off the next weekend. It was great publicity and exposure for his newly opened performance shop and thats what he really wanted! Episode airs Feb 22. He already sold the mustang he used to win too, lol. He has a 69 Camaro Pro street that he runs and has had as his baby for years. There ain't no way in hell he would put that up but he would have definetely had faster times. I'd like to see some peeps get together and do up a mopar and run that on the show.

Thanks for clearing that up !! That makes a whole lot more sense.
Although I did see an episode, I think the guy with SS Monte Carlo,
it was his personal car and he only had about 2 or 3 guys with him.
Forking out hard earned money and maybe lose the ride, just to be on
T.V. , yeah, I guess that's worth it, if you can afford to lose it.

I caught another show on Discovery the other night. It was called
"Street Racing, Need for Speed," the concept of the show was there,
but the racers were all imports.
I almost fell out of my lazy boy, when they quoted the "King of the
Street", was a 12 second Honda!! That's the king !! Can't remember
what city it was, but everyone on the show thought that car was the
bomb. I guess import guys are the only stupid ones left out there
that street race. 12 seconds..... My work truck will do 12's.
I've street raced for years on the south side of Chicago in the
late 80's and 90's. Heck the cops used to block the road off for us.
Street racing was never a big issue, until the import scene took off.
Now, its a big strike against you, plus fines, & jail time. We raced
for years, with no accidents. Maybe, I should'nt be so hasty jumping on
the import guys. A crotch rocket motorcycle unexperienced driver was
the first casualty that I recall. I kind of miss street racing back in
the day, we had some good times. One summer, I cleared over 5
grand racing unsuspecting suburbanites. I used sleeper cars, 1 was
a '73 Galaxie 500 ex-cop car. It was a special order 428 Police Interceptor, I still don't know how that engine got into a '73 when they
quit making them in 1970. So much fun blowing away new IROC Z's and
stock 5.0's with a 4 dr. sedan.

I raced local pinks in fla and won. the guy was nice ,so we squared up when he handed me $2500 as I felt sorry for him.

yeah orange, I also remember when running open headers on the street wasnt against the law,now they say anything over 70 decibals are against the law, I protested a weedwhacker is louder than that to the cop, his reply was start it up upon staring it up he immediately said to shut it down, and this was in my driveway to boot.I asked him how am i suppose to load the car for the track but he didnt reply, shitty neighbors I assume.so much for tuning at home......

I know where theres a late 60 to 70 galaxie with the 428 in it for 2500 bux, needs lotta body didnt lok at engine but the sign read 428

Calculated gambling.

The desire to have 2 birds in one hand outweighs the logic to hold the one in hand that you already have.

Not to mention, the car guys ego:
  1. Braging Rights
  2. I can build a faster car then they can
  3. I can-out negotiate the other team

Only thing "pinks" is good for is watching some racing and seeing other people lose their cars, there is no way in hell i would ever put my car up on that show, there are way too many things that can go wrong during a run to ever risk having to give it away..now "pinks allout" thats the cats arse, you don;t lose your car and if your one of the 16 cars picked to run you have a shot at $10,000 if you win it all, plus you get 1,000.00 for winning your first round and can bet on each round after that up to the final, that looks like a good time...

One guy on pinks that lost had his business increase about 2 fold after the appearance.

Best advertising he ever got.

He's not the only one either.

I don't like the show. But I like PINKS all out. It is just for shops to advertise. but thene again there is not much on tv that is not about advertising. Have you watched a NASCAR race latly? It is a joke, like I am going to buy a toyota becouse a race car with a toyota sticker on it won a race.

Um Yeah , on "Pinks" you actually race for Titles, winner gets the loosers car. As it was done some 20-30 years ago. Street racin ! Pinks, All Out is better cause you win $, Not a broken POS half assed Ferd or Cheby wanna be race car...That, I'd never want in the 1st place
