Throttle cable difference?

I swapped my six for a 360. I've been working through the problems that come up but I thought I'd read the throttle cable for the six would work. It looks way to long, so is there a difference between the six and the V8 cars? I'm using the Thermo-quad with a Edelbrock Performer manifold. Thanks for any help.
