1971 Dart Swinger

Hello All * I'm listing this 1971 Dart Swinger for a friend of mine * He's not too happy about selling the Dart to start with - he's had it for the last 15 years * So he has asked me to sell it for him. I can understand where he's coming from - it's his pride & joy & let's face it there's a lot of tire kickers out there. There's nothing worse then being forced to sell your car & having people trying to beat you up at the same time * I'm sure many can agree.
Anyway - it'll a super solid & extremely straight 71 Dart Swinger as you can see. It has all it's original sheet medal - including floors & trunk. It's had one repaint about 10 years ago in the original E5 color & still shows excellent. Absolutely no rust anywheres including under the original vinyl roof. All the chrome & brightwork is beautiful.
It was originally a 318 with A/C. Sorry the original engine is no long available. Last year we replaced the 318 with a 1967 date coded 340.
Yes a very early engine - first 67 - 340 I've ever seen. It's has a .060 over-bore with 10.0.1 Keith Black pistons. Steel crank with I-beam rods. Yes it was line-hone & balanced. Crane cam kit 693902 * 427/454
Not a high rev cam - but lots of bottom end. Intake is an old LD340 on a set of "J" heads with a worked Edelbrock Performer with electric choke.
Points were replaced with a Pertronix unit & the original exhaust manifolds are still in place. The engine compartment was repainted E5 also - the whole set-up looks factory correct. By the way - the A/C blows Ice Cold & still runs R12. Oh & if you're worried about the .060 overbore - forget it - it never runs past the first mark on the gauge with the A/C on.
The transmission is the original 904 that was rebuilt at the same time the engine was put in. Shift improvement kit & 2,500 rpm stall converter right from Mopar.
Over the years the 7-1/4 rear was ditched & a 3.23 Sure-grip 8-3/4 installed. It has Power steering - but no power brakes & they are drum.
B.F.Goodrich all the way around on Rally wheels. It has very rare 265-50-14's on the back that we bought years ago at Carlisle. I never saw another pair that size again.
Naturally the stripe is not original - nor is the hood - but the side trim is.The interior is all original except the front seat - another Carlisle find along with the Tuff wheel & is in great condition.
I'll bet you there isn't 2,500 miles on the engine & transmission. We have raced it a few times in the Stock Appearing Class at both Englishtown & Lebanon Valley Dragway. It's not a rocket-ship but has clicked off 13.60's through the exhaust. There's nothing like sitting in the staging lanes when it's 90 out with the A/C on & the guy next to you sweating bullets.LOL
Anyway - my buddy is asked $18,500 - which I might add - I told him seemed alittle high. But I also told him I would relay any reasonable offer & he could make the call. Before I forget - it has won a 2nd & 3rd place finish at the All Chrysler Nationals in I believe was 2004 & 2005.
There's also a picture of the Dart in Hemmings Muscle Machines Magazine racing & piping I might add a big block Olds 442 from the F.A.S.T. class with me at the wheel.
