Oil Pan problem (pics)
I am in the process of putting a new 318 in my 71 Demon. I made the mistake of ordering a rear sump Mopar oil pan. I installed the pan with the engine on the stand (not even thinking to check and see if it would fit in the car). I then put the engine and headers in the car.
To put the headers in I had to pull the stearing linkage (it appears the linkage should go right through the middle of the drivers side headers), so when I put the engine in the car I did not notice that the stearing linkage will not fit with the oil pan I am using. It appears the stock oil pan is much lower profile and has a front sump.
I already have the engine in the car and halfway bolted up, the headers are in and bolted on. I am wondering if it would be easier to pull the engine to replace the oil pan, or if I could replace the oil pan easily with the engine still in the car.
