Lebanon Valley Dragway is destroyed !!!!

-
Bad news man!
Lot's of people criticize the track and management but they have really put forth good efforts over the past few years to improve the facility.
I think most of the regulars would agree and support LVDs progress.
This is really sad.

Crazy too....they had repaved the track to prevent water seeping through the old asphalt. Now this. With the weather and rain we have been having all spring the place will be a mess for months to come.

Guess we won't be running NENDRA next week there huh?

BigEd-
I think I spoke to you at Dairy Queen cruise in Monroe last year. Nice ride.

I am sick over this. First we lost CT Dragway in 1986, now LVD is in trouble. If the owners/insurance companies can't dig out of this, there will be houses built there in short order. Only track left within 200 miles of CT is Englishtown, and it is a ***** to get there from CT going through NY.
PRAY this gets resolved.

I hate going to E-twon from where I am. Mostly due to tolls. Nothing like a $11 bridge toll huh!?!?!

Some more pics from Friday and the last 2 were taken Sunday. The LVD home page has not been updated since Friday night so who knows what is going on up there. Big ed, shoot me your email. We have some nendra scheduling updates and for some reason you are not in my Nendra Newletter contacts list. Nendra event #5 will be held at Island Dragway this Satuday 8/8

NED is too far away from here to make a day trip out of it as far as I know. I never mapped it out, though.

Whoa just mapquested it 3 hour ride for you..if you ever get a chance check it out mine and several other racers i know favorite track..Mopar day is Oct 3rd....

Hey Walt,
How are you?
Was your camper up at the track when it flooded?
What car are you running this year?
I just put the Demon on the road. After waiting for two years to take the car to the track, I give up. I figure I can have some fun tooling around the streets.
I moved since the last time we talked. I'm now up on the outskirts of poughkeepsie.

I had rotator cuff surgery so I just got racing again last month. I have been running the K 9.20@149. I didn't get the camper up there, but the K was up there in the trailer.

I visited the K on Saturday. I happen to be in a low spot of the higher ground. I could drive my truck to the trailer, put on 16" rubber boots and walk to the trailer. It is still in the middle of a big puddle. My big battery charger took on water but the generator looks OK. They were at the back of the trailer, the lowest point. In front of the car stuff on the floor got wet. It looks like it was 2 inches high there. A box of oil filters was laying on it's side, the two lowest I threw away. The other 10 were dry. The tires were a little dirty but the car was dry. The helmet and fire gear were on the floor of the car and they were dry. Some spare parts got wet...
Because of the huge puddle I couldn't move the trailer. I will have to go up Friday. I will pull the wheels, dry the brakes and clean/repack the wheel bearings. The water is very muddy and fine silt is everywhere. When I looked at the black vinyl floor in the trailer it looked like it was spray painted tan.
Water is much lower now. I will post some pictures later. The track is a mess.

The track equipment was going the whole time I was there. Giant sweeper in the parking lots and equipment working on the track and concrete barriers. The water flowed hard enough to knock over 15 or so interlocked jersey barriers.

Glad there wasn't to much damage. How are the floors in the trailer going to handle the water.
Are you responsible for your trailer and contents, or will LVD's insurance pick up some of it. I would figure it's a park at your own risk. I hope I'm wrong.

I can't believe how much damage there is in front of the fuel station. That's going to take a while to repair.

Park at own risk...

They had equipment working on that hole by the fuel when I left on Saturday.

Wow, I wish you all and the track the best of luck, that looks really bad.

I wonder why the polock didn't email me about this.

Hmm, maybe because I never read my email anyway. lol

Teds right, track is back to normal. Matter of fact, the MoPar show scheduled for Sept. is ON. Im not sure of the date, guessing weekend of 19-20th??? I need to check their website.

It may have opened 10 days after the great flood, but it honestly was not a back to being safe until last weekend. Finally all the moondust is gone. The fuel area is still under construction. Other than that the bite still sucks so everything really is back to normal. LOL

The Mopar show is Saturday 9/26 and of course Emilio and I will be there.
