Another Q about gears
Well, considering that your motor will make most of it's power above 3200 rpm, I'd say that the 2:76 is a dis-advantage. You need to get that motor in the powerband as quickly as possible. A 2:76 is never going to get you up in that area of the powerband. You didn't say what car this motor is in, but even in an A-body, anything less than a 3:23 is not going to get your motor in it's sweet spot. Play with it a little, but get yourself at least a 3:23 (good), a 3:55 (better), or a 3:91 (probably the best). Good luck with your project, Geof
