Classic ball game- Yanks beat Sox in 15

Somehow they have heart this year! Tex is the man.

Every team in baseball has the same opportunity to buy players. Only difference is that the Yanks seem to be the ones to consistently step up and do it - all in the name of winning which is OK with me. Often this approach has not worked in their favor and we end up stuck with un-tradeable has beens.

I'm good with the fact that the Yanks are willing to do what it takes to put the best possible players on the field. Some franchises are ok with mediocrity I guess. If your front office is not willing to put in the effort, how do you expect the whole team to do the same?

Plus, some of their better players are home grown - Jeter, Rivera and Posada. There's also Melky, Cano and Phil Hughes. Yanks are good at judging talent, whether they pay for it or draft the player from the start.

It's also good for baseball that the Yanks are tagged with the perception of buying talent. (Like you pointed out, a lot of it's home grown and the money is there to keep the home grown talent.) The Yanks pull the crowds in at visiting parks because the visiting fans want to see the Yanks. Everyone wants a chance to see how well their own team is going to do against the greatest franchise in the history of baseball. They want to see the hometown team beat the Yanks, they come out to root against the "evil empire." The Yanks put butts in the seats no matter they go because of this reason. They also put a lot of butts in the seats because there are a lot of Yanks fans in others cities who want to see the team.
Want to fuss about spending then fuss at the owners who are taking the revenue sharing and not spending it on talent. Or creating the idea that their city is the place to play. Everyone who plays in pinstripes does so because they want to be part of that, hard to turn down a franchise when you can line up all the history and Hall of Famers that have worn the stripes.
