How important is a "High Performance" water pump?

Get a NEW pump for an A/C car. I got one for the Duster a
couple years ago. I went for the lifetime one. Kept the recipt
just in case. I have not had any problems. When I had the orignal
rad or the alum. one i put in.
That way you save some money and get some good cooling.
