How important is a "High Performance" water pump?

hmmm.....
Let's see my 6 blade pump on my 340 has the reinforcement tubes and cost more than the 8 blade A/C pump with no reinforcement tubes on my 410, meanwhile Frank Adkins says for 1970/later chrysler came out with a police 360 pump that has a heavy duty 5/8 shaft and 'ribs' on the snout=6 blade
At least thats what the reality of it is from what I see/n.

And.... mopar says use the 6 blade for iron heads & drag racing and call 8 the blade high flow for aluminum heads/racing look in the back of old catalogs/1/4 mile recipes.

THEN Larry Schreib says to use the 8 blade A/C in racing and says it has a smaller impeller, absorbing less power @high rpm no mention of iron/alum

Now is larry talking the weight of the shaft? no mention of the blade size??

I like the Mopar recommendation of the 6 blade w/high rpm my self, don't like bearing failure and 6 blades makes sense to me, like less power loss and slower flow in comparison to 8 blade but this applys to 7000+RPM.IMO
My 410 won't need to be at 7000 or even 6500 to make it's peak the way it's set up, but will definitely make heat with 10.1 and iron sitting in a drive through or coming off the freeway.
