What's the difference between 4-speed and auto console?

The original 4spd console should also have a cut out, that extends up into the body of the console on the drivers side, for the side cover to fit into.The tops should not have the groove down the center as the earlier consoles did. If the console you have has a opening about 4x6 then you have a 4spd console. You`ll need a unique shifter to snake through to the opening as well. The original shifter may be even harder to find, so you may have to make one. Good luck!
