So I almost blew up my trans yesterday.....
Yep...and the sad part is I know better. It's a nice warmed over 360 with a stock 904 and stock 8.25 w/ open 2.45s.
I KNOW I should run it hard because everything downline of the crankshaft isn't that durable (yet).
But for some reason I decided to stand on it coming home from the north side of town. It hauled ***, but when I backed off I noticed it was stuck in 2nd. I slowed it down, got over and off the highway, but it was still overheating. By the time I got it parked it was slipping REALLY bad. I let it sit and cool for a while, then took it out to test it. It appears to be working ok now, but I know the damage is done. I CAN'T get into the throttle now until I get it built.
There is a guy in our club that does alot of racing trans work, and has quoted me a good price to rebuild it. I'm going to go to a cast aluminum pan, shift kit, mild stall, and a good, complete rebuild.
