hey guys. so i went to a car show today and when we while we were parking our cars, the people asked if the guy next to me could move his el camino over. he refused because he said my door would hit his car. i assured him he would be ok since i didnt have a passenger in my car and i wouldnt be opening the doors on that side. but he threw a little fit. so i said fine i will scoot over a bit also. we were parked on a gravel lot and since he was detailing that pile of crap and had just dusted it off i made sure to rev the piss out of the slant six with my turn downs to make a little dust. boy did i get a dirty look from him. after we moved and i got out i told him to make sure he doesnt hit my car with his door and then walked off. i know we all take pride in our cars. but this guy was throwing a fit like a little kid. im just glad i could piss someone off today. 8)

Unfortunately, some peeps are so arrogant they only have respect for their own cars and forget the peeps beside them love the hobby too....:sad8:

And I bet he stood next to it all day with a rag rubbing it down hoping some on would walk up and say some thing nice about his car. There is always a few people like him at the shows.

the show was in el sobrante on sunday. yeah, he pretty much cleaned it all day. but the wagon got way more attention.

I cant hate on people who love their cars. I wouldnt have been so nice if you had blown crap all over my car if I thought it was on purpose.

Maybe I'm wrong but I take it for granted that people at car shows would be careful enuff to watch that they don't hit your car.I guess I could be wrong.8)

Hate to say it but didn't your disrespecting him by revving and dusting his car mirror his tantrum throwing outburst?

Seems like you started to take the high road by being nice enough to offer to move but then went Chevy guy on him at the last second.

I run into guys like that all the time when I bring my Rat to shows.....the people cringe as I put...put....put by them looking for a spot. Usually I pull up and make some comment like "I just made your car look 10 times nicer by comparison". That usually lightens them up and most of the time they turn out to be OK.....just a bit Anal.

I hate shows that treat you like crap if your not driving a chevy.
I went to one this past summer that had close to 300 cars. Several nice high end mopars there. The only one that got anything was for the best mopar award they gave out. They had a top 100 category and not a single mopar took anything. There were 3 of the new Camaro's there and all 3 took top 100 awards.
Don't get me wrong, I never go to a show looking for something. I usually go because its a charity event. But they need to find judges that know what the hell they're looking at.

I try to be nice to the chevy and ford folks. A mustang parks right beside my car sometimes and I dont say anything.... I hate mustangs!

I'd say the ones who felt I should'nt let my lil' dawg run loose inside the car....after all it is her playpen on wheel's

Went back and reread your post. Sounds like you could use some ettiquette lessons. The guy was already there and parked and you wanted to squeeze in. How many shows has your car been in? Someone courteous would have given him his space. You blame him for being the jerk but it sounds like you were the one disrespectful. If there wasnt room to open your door you were crowding him. I myself like enough room around my car that people dont brush against it trying to walk by. And a little room to step back and take a pic if they want to. If you had 9k in your paint and body you would understand. You may not like this but it sounds like youre braggiung about being a dick. Grow up.

I WANT THAT TRUCK! Way cool!
I have been the only Comet at 5 shows this year, the car gets swarmed but the judges ignore it. You don't get any points for "owner built"
I still go, mainly to see the other cool cars that are out there, the more obscure the better! JMHO, Rat;-0

We had a guy like that at Carlisle in 2008. One of our members was camping there and put his bin of stuff in the 1st spot next to our club tent. Saturday morning we arrived to find his stuff moved under the tent and a black Valiant parked taking two spots righ next to our tent.

There was a ton of early A bodies that year and I asked him if he could move over. He said he would not, did not want any door dings and further more "that tent is taking up parking spots. They should not allow tents on the field" or something close to that.

It really pissed me off, we paid for that tent and some jerk took two spots next to it. I ended up parking under the tent way back with someone else in front.

Prima donnas I can do without. :bootysha:

well you read a little wrong. and what does it matter how many shows my car has been in. this one just got on the road a month ago. but i take it to two local shows a week and have been to 3 bigger shows the last three weeks with it. with no complaints because i dont crowd other people. we all pulled in together and he parked in the lines of a spot and he was too close to the car that he parked next too. everyone else was taking up two spots. thats how the show wanted the spacing . i parked like everyone else. i was about 7 feet away from him because i parked in between two spots. like i was directed.(if that makes sense. thats my best attempt at explaining it)he was the one that was too close to the other car and thats why they asked him to move. they didnt ask me untill he started crying that my passenger door would hit his car. even though i didnt have a passenger. my buddy with an original un restored hemi gtx was on my drivers side and he didnt mind the spacing. so you are wrong about me squeezing in. i will post pictures for you when i get them too. i am plenty grown. but when an old man starts throwing a fit about being too close to the rusty valiant i could care less. i like having my space too even though i dont have 9k into my paint and bodywork. i didnt post this to get any justification from anyone. i just wanted to vent a little. please dont tell me to grow up unless you are there. everyone else there thought he was out of line. i will admit i should have been the bigger man and not kicked up dust. but im not perfect.

the better explanation works for me. in the first post i thought you asked him to move.sorry. but youre right you should have been the bigger man.

"...went Chevy guy on him..." That is GOLD! :toothy10:

And I totally agree about judges who have no understanding of what a MOPAR is.

I watched with sickness as a totally modified (Disc brakes, wheels, engine dress up kit, grant steering wheel..braided hoses etc. Cutlasshole beat an original paint and total stock to the battery 69K mile 68 Dodge RT in the stock class this weekend.......I wanted to go up to the judges and ask them what they considered stock to be. (no less than 13 mods if its a GM or Ford i guess.)

I figured it would be a waste of time...oh 2nd and 3rd were also GM cars.....sad to because confusedcuda's car and the RT were 2 of 5 nicer cars (and also non GM) there that were closer to stock than the winners and completely passed over by ignorant fools.

Missouri and especially around KC is truly Chevy and Ford country....sigh:angry7:

The wife and I went to a show last weekend here in michigan.Talk about pro chevy. It was a top 75 show and 24 were newer covettes.I felt only about 4 were just.I have got my trophys.Been there done that not why I was there,so I was there but please.

It'd be kinda fun in a messed-up way to wear a circa-1983 Michael Jackson coat (with 6,000 zippers) and a gigantic belt buckle while walking around that dude's car. He'd lose 20 pounds in sweat by the end of the event.

It seems like he'd realize that another car guy understands the etiquette and that has put in wrench time isn't out to wreck his stuff. His El Camino should remain under a glass dome in a subterranean climate-controlled building with heavily-armed guards standing sentry.

Yes please........please no more than 25 camaro's and 20 fords in a top 50 class.....leave something for the Mopar and the other 4 guys who built cars in America years ago.

We paid our 15 bucks just like the rest of you and there's only 48 cars at this show......just say it.

Top 50 pick to a Moooooper..67 bacracuda. Congrats to you sir....

The Duplicolor restoration challenge turned out the same way...not to fond of them now,not bashing their product's but their people in charge sure seem to lack the intelligence to run a car contest. just an opinion
