Trail and error (s) Still had fun at LVD
Why are you running mixed fuels? Refresh me on the build if you dont mind. You are a little off on the gearing change. It does mutiply the torque to the tires, but more importantly it lets the vehicle catch up to the spinning tires faster... So over all, you will be quicker. Generally 1 tenth on the 60 equals 3/10s at the finish. So if you can go a 1.90 60' you should be quicker than 13.50. More important is the mph. 106 is no slouch. It's got 12s in it if you get it all working perfectly.
Not using mixed fuels, only 93 octane pump gas. Was considering while the tank was low at the track to add a few gallons of 108..next time that is, and bumping the timing up. I know quite a few guys with high comp. street cars who "blend" race fuel with pump gas.
Since the car isnt a "race car" its not really tuned like a race car.
The motor is a stroked 340 and built by an experienced builder. "Mopar Mike" we call him. I have exactly 375ci, 10.1:1 comp. Performer RPM intake, Edelbrock Thunder 650 carb, custom grind UltraDyne hyd cam which Mike still has the cam specs. Heads are stock 308's w/ 2.02's (for now-heading out for full porting this winter) . Also using Comp roller rockers, and TTI exhaust/H-pipe and Dynomax mufflers. On the dyno run, it made 411 TQ already at 2900RPM, and peaked at 4000-4100 @ 450. HP peaked at just under 430 from 5500-5700.
<Nothing crazy..had a limited budged and I had to forget about the TTI headers , head porting and the hyd. roller cam for a year or two.>
Chose the 3.55 gear 'cause the plan was to be driving the car 300 miles each way to Carlisle every year. That plans been ditched, 4.10s are much more fun.
Used to run 4.56:1 in my big block Challenger years ago. When matched with the right cam that car was fast. Duster is so much lighter.
Thanks for the rule of thumb on the 60' times. That was a mystery to me on what an improved 60' time would do to the ET. This is why I refer to the "experts" here in racers forum and not in General :)
