champion plugs

My '99 Ram had it's original Champion plugs in it when I changed them at apx. 74K... ran good too. I put Bosch platinum plugs in it and it didn't seem to help at all, it ran worse for me then than with the factory plugs. I didn't leave the Bosch in very long and went back to Champs. If I ever deside to go with anythnig other than the stock copper plug ( right now I'm running a super coil, MSD super conductor wires and the comp. is reprogramed) I'll go with eather NGK V-power, or Champ. platinum. All my Mopars get Champ. plugs except the '56.. it gets Autolite (the O.E. plug for it).... unless I deside to put a 440 in it....Hummmm!
 
i can't stan those plugs... tried them when i first started in mopars and they ran like crap... autolite ever since..
 
I have always ran Champion plugs in all my Mopars. But my Cuda doesnt like them @ all! The burn fine but I blow the white part of the plug out under acceleration. Does not matter which cylinder they all have blown out at one time or the other. :wack:
 
well i run the champions .. on a stock motor ,.untill they screw up, then the autolites... , in a perf .motor i only use the autolites
 
I always used Champion plugs years ago until I started bracket racing. I gave them all (the American plugs)the 1/4 mile challenge. The Champions were good for 4-5 runs, A/C you might as well throw away,they weren`t even good for one hard run.(Strange how they do fine in Chevys?) Autolites would go all day, and yielded the best times,and since then, I`ve used Autolite exclusively. I`ve tried the NGK`s and Bosch plugs but my Mopars have always run the best with Autolites. Anyway I believe Champion has discontinued making a lot of their plugs for the old Mopars.They`re getting hard to find.
 
champions kept fouling out on me. i run NGK or ND plugs. they seem to work fine, but if i find a better plug i'll get it.
 
My street cars and the street strip car gets Champs and only champ. I hate auto lights. But you should try and find out what your car likes. Thats the bottom line.
 
You can tell that the best plug is what has worked best for each of us which seems to be a different plug. Rumblefish360 is right, just try them one at a time and see which one works for you. But try them apples to apples, same heat range, electrode style, etc.
FYI, NGK V-Power racing works best in my race car, all last season on two sets of plugs (still have the second set in the car). I have Champion Platinum in my wifes Concorde. I use Autolites in my Cherokee. It's what seems to work for me.

Although generally I am not a fan of Autolites, "It Auto lite but it don't" but they are in on of my cars, so they can't be that bad.

So to answer you question it is true that MOPARS run better with Champions, for some people.
 
thanks guys i appriciate the input, a bunch of my mopar buddies said that the champs run best in their mopars, i was jus tryin to get some feedback from you other mopar guys

Same here. Champs are for lawnmowers
 
If anybody MADE a plug for my mower besides champion I wouldn't run them there either. I had HORRIBLE luck with them in the 80's, basically the damn things had a tendancy to crack and fall apart, and didn't last long if they stayed in one piece. I've tried AC, NGK, Bosch, and keep coming back to the Autolites. They've worked well for me for years, and I'm about through experimenting. Even tried the splitfires when they were new, they didn't last 5000 miles in a V6. Opinions vary..
 
the quality in champs has gone down over the years if you ask me. i run NGK or Denso, no problems at all.
 
Never, had good luck with Champion plugs, tried them in all makes
and engines, AC's for GM'S , Autolites for Fords, see what your car
likes. Whatever happened to those Split- Fire Plugs??
They fizzled out quick!!! I put them in some cars and they
barely ran after words.
 
I never had problems with Champion in any Mopars but they hated my Ford Van. They fouled too easy in there but the engine did have a small oil control problem too.

I've tried most brands of plugs and never have detected a difference in how the engine runs. I do use platimum plugs in my daily drivers just because you don't have to change them as often but they certainly don't make the engine run any better. I use conventional plugs in my toys just because I like to fiddle with them and it makes me feel better.

I most often purchase Autolite brand simply because there is a Wal-Mart near the house and they sell them and Champions next because everyone else always has them.
 
I use Champion for my '74 Valiant 318cid, stock elect. ignition. No problems, no need to change.
