When I first finished my duster it was a street car, W2 headed 360. It made right at 510HP on our dyno in pump gas form.
So no, W2's are not too much. Alot depends on the porting. You can really open them up and make them work well, but that's not realistic for what your doing although the big CID would make me lean towards opening them up a fair amount.
If you run an open chamber head, I would stick to 9.5:1...if you can find a nice set of closed chamber heads then I would say 10:1 is doable with good tight quench unless you plan on using a really small cam.
