1965 Barracuda- Restomod

Right now the one thing that I need for my Billet grill to work is to some how mount it around the hood latch or remove the latch entirely and just use hood pins.

The problem is, I do not want the hood to fly up and smash the windshield or kill me. What could I do? Also, I do not wish to use a Valiant grill.

This is the front of the car currently.

It has been like this for awhile now, I would like to use the same mounting points in the grill that the stock one had, but a more custom grill than the old Valiant one had. One more, dare I say, Mustang sleek. But with Mopar attitude. :dontknow:

The placement of that latch is what keeps me from being able to cut, weld, place and mount the new grill.

I just came across this photo right now searching for pictures of my Barracuda.

The story behind this was that I had originally wanted to paint my car like Dirty Mary Crazy Larry. (Classic film) Well, I was searching on Google, Custom 1965 Barracuda, or something. Well lo and behold this comes up. Now, not that I'm going to be someone who dosent want his car painted like the other few who are similar to his in the world. BUT. What was so ironic was not only the color was the same I wanted, but in the background is a poster for the Eldorado Hotel and Casino. This car is a local Barracuda living somewhere in Reno! What are the odds? Suffice to say I scrapped the idea.

I digress.

What I am going to do though is remove the side Barracuda and fish emblems and relocate one set to the back of the car just under the trunk and the other to the front grill.

My other hurdle is restoring the interior cabin.

There is a mystery floor hole I imagine was used to try to place a floor shifter. Then just mildly repaired with some crap sheet metal and screws. The floor is rust free other than the basic surface issues. Also the dash has been drilled to hell and maintains a weird shape and a lot of different scars. You can see where I mounted plumber's tape for a cd player. I will just end up making a center console that runs right up to the dash.

But this is most of the pictures I have now. I'll add more when I head down to where it is stored.

Let me know what you think or if you have any more ideas, PLEASE, any and all help would be the best!
