#1 TDC question

I never thought about this until putting together my 360 this weekend but when the dots are lined up un the timing chain gears it was in #6 firing position, not #1 firing position. Is this right or am I going crazy? I am used to diesel engine timing and they reference #1 TDC for timing purposes. Please correct me if I am wrong.
