Power Steering Column With Manual Box

Thats a 2 piece colapsable column where one piece inside the other has nylon sheer pins through both. You could drill out those sheer pins but.. the difference is 3 inches. I dont have a clue how much overlap would remain. The 2 pieces need to be fairly well engaged.
