First time post engine rebuild advice please

VGV8 - machine shops only usually do what you tell them to -unless it directly convenes certain basic rules for a rebuild. As said before, i think 0.030 was recommended off the heads, decking the block would also raise the CR a bit as well. Doing these things though might mean you have to get the gasket faces of the inlet manifold machined as well otherwise the bolt holes may not line up any more. Unless you understand about this, you will not know what i am talking about. I would talk to the machine shop about that. Remember, when modifying engines from stock, you cannot usually just change one thing -other related components also usually have to be modified.
