Up side down

I resently had a engine rebuilt. I put it in the car got it running took for spin around the block then it died towed home. The engine seemed a little hot, so I deside to take out the theromsta. When I removed the housing I found the thermsta up side down(the point was facing down). The question is will this hurt my engine and has anybody heard of this, putting the thermosta up side down.

This would cause problems in the long run. :(

Sounds like a simple goof. Put it in correctly.

I use a High Flow thermostat in my Valiant.
