Engine Help
It is a 67 date coded 340 Block, punched .30 over.I have a complete ARP stud kit, pistons and the compression I want to keep it around 10.5 to 1.I want to use a pair of Xheads that I have and looking to spend around$800.00 on the heads doing a little porting and polishing and new Stainless Steel ferra valves.I have a new set of Eagle H beam rods that I have already purchased, the block is already bored and boiled out and honed and cross hatched and is ready to be built.I am looking for around 375 HP if possible,I also plan on using a Edelbrock LD 340 intake,Crane roller rockers that I have new,I hve a stock steel 340 crank that only needs polished but I planned on buying a new crank unless I can achieve the HP with the existing crank,I will also be running an original Thermoquad carb that I am going to have tricked out,I believe it is a 850 cfm carb.I will be running Stock HP cast iron exhaust manifolds that I have.I have not decided to go with a roller cam or just a flat tappet around High 400 to low 500 lift like the purple shaft mopar cams.I will have to get new lifters, pushrods.I have some nice looking used parts but I really want this engine new except for the block. The car will be driven on occaisions, weekends to cruise nights and just playing around. The car has a new posi 8 3/4 rear end with a 489 case with 3.23 gears and Mosier axles that I just had done about 2 months ago,Stock mopar 4 speed will go back in the car with the new engine. The car is a pretty rare Black on Black bench 4 speed mod top car and I don't want to make it too radical.I have another 69 Dart 340 that I am also working on that I want to build a RADICAL 340 for it.It will be used on the Street and Strip.I want to keep the Mod Top car looking pretty much Original with just a few exceptions such as a custom pistol grip shifter handle like a B body, disc brakes,Super Stock springs.I will get the block casting number tomorrow and any other numbers I can find on it.
