255/60/15 - stock 70-72 Dart

Cool, looks good!

Since I started this thread, I've been doing a little research into tire size/gearing. Seems like the best overall tire diameter with the 4.10 gear I have would be 26". For best performance with the 255 (27" diameter) I probably would need a 4.30 gear. I believe that 4.10 is probably the absolute limit for 'normal' street/highway driving which therefore negates the benefit of 255's. I may end up with 235/60/15 M/T's or 26 x 9 QuickTimes.

I also asked this because A) I didn't want the extra cost and labor involved with moving the srpings in and B) didn't want the expense of buying new rims to fit the application since I already have two sets of facotry 15 x 7 rims with the 4.25" backspace.

I do however like the look of the 255's. Descisions descisions.

Hey, don't jump the gun yet on buying tires, i measured my 255/60/15s just for kicks, they were 26.1" tall, now this was not mounted, but the inner beads were sitting very close to 7", so i don't think the tire grew enough to make them 27" tall, but i'll double check them tomorrow, i'm running 20 lbs. air in them, so i'm sure they are squatting flatter or still around 26" tall, i remember when i bought a set of Hoosier DRs for my camaro, on the factory 7" rim they sat less then 26", but they rated them higher then 26".

Mad dart, they are 4.25" BS, don't sweat it, they will fit, but if you are thinking of moving the springs in, or even a minny tub, this won't be the route to go of coarse.

Thanks Doug.
