I finally got my dashpad back from Just Dashes in Van Nuys, CA. it took like 16 weeks to get back but it finally arrived. I don' t think I have any hair left from pulling it out to figure out this damn tailight problem. I don't care I am putting everything back together,I just won't drive at night for now. My fuse block is just hanging under the dash next to the left side of the steering column. It was like that when I bought it, anyone have an idea how it was mounted under the dash? I can't find any pictures of 70 Dusters under dash photos, and I have not seen any at a show. I also seen a 70 AAR Cuda get auctioned off up in Monterey, CA. The last bid I heard was 55,000. It was super clean.
Please let me know about fuse block mounting.

its mounted on the side, above the plastic trim piece, behind the hood latch cable, by like, one or two screws, its pretty obvious if you look. its not really mounted to the dash, its mounted on the left side, in front of the door but it is concealed by the dash. do you get what im saying? if you dont know exactly, if you look, you should see it. but basically, its not mounted to TO the underside of the dash, its mounted to the left side of the car, underneath the dash...

Thanks, for the info about the mounting area, I am going to start to put the new dash in today. I don't know if the block and harness is going to reach that far over to the area mentioned. I know where your talking about, I think a lot of mechanis tried to diagnose this problem in the past that is why the fuse block is like dangling under the left side of the steering column. The car has a tailight problem.

On my 72 Duster there's a tab on the lower edge of the dash. If you run you hand along the bottom edge to the left of the parking brake handle you'll feel it, or you could just stick your head under and look :D You'll also notice a rectangle block sticking up above the fuses on the fuse block. They'll be a concave hole in the middle of it and the hole on the tab is dimpled up so it fits into that hole. Screw in thru the tab into the fuse block. Hope this helps

I know exactly where your talking about I put the dashboard in yesterday and was scoping out underneatht to find where the hell this thing mounts to. I will look at it again tonite. I am going to a Mopar show on Sunday in San Diego. Hopefully some Dusters will be there so I can see one correctly under the dash.
Thanks, again 8)

I'm having the same dilemma. Can anyone provide a picture ? There was no wiring harness in the car when we got it and I can't seem to find what look like matching mounting holes. I know I can make it work but would like to try to do it correctly.
Thank you

Sounds like what you are describing is similar to my '75, but dont think anything screws on. Tab sticks out near bottom edge of dash and bends straight up. fuse box slides down onto it.

Thank you ! That's a big help. There is no clip for it to hook to but I think I can make one if I can't find one
Thank you again

The one on my 75 Plymouth Valiant seems to be hinged onto the bottom edge of the dash, and, is held up with a thumb screw.

I need to replace mine, it is starting to turn to dust and, generally breaking up.:eek:ops:

I think 1970 is like earlier cars, as described in post 4. The fuses face down and will be at about the level of the bottom of the dash. A screw goes upward thru a tab at the dash bottom into a square plastic bump on the fuse box.

I got a replacement fuse box from a 80-90's Dodge motorhome (recall). It is identical to my 64-65 fuse boxes except some of the labels differed. It has a stud & nut, which I like better since the plastic threaded hole might bugger up. Takeaway - motor homes can be good pickings.

I have no idea if the way mine is mounted in that pic is correct. But; it seems like it sits solid and i dont see any other way it would go..
I'd be interested to see another 75 with that fuse box. Or any of the other boxes and ways of mounting mentioned here.
