DAD'S VALIANT

Mike,

I am about 2 hrs away from Long Neck. I am in Newark, Delaware, which is in northern Delaware. (New Castle County) Long Neck is located in Sussex County, and Dover (our state capital is in Kent County) I am familiar with Rehoboth, but not so much the surrounding areas in that part of the state. What color is your '68, and what condition is the car in? Nice to see another '68 owner on the boards. I'll tell you a little bit about my car. In case you didn't get the chance to see any of my earlier posts, I purchased car off of E-Bay last July from the original owner. The original owner was a 90 year old lady who sold it to her daughter. The car has 68,000 miles on the clock currently. Since I purchased the car, I have had to put some money into it. I had to replace the power steering pump, battery, tires, headlights, rebuild the trans, replaced the radio and antenna with a restored AM thumbwheel radio, (I don't mind the AM radio, It's one thing I remember about my grandfather's car that I loved. He always listened to KYW 1060 in Philadelphia, where he lived. In the spring, I would like to get the minor rust spots evaluated and taken care of. I have minor rust around the back wheel well openings and on the top of the passenger side front fender. I would like to keep the car stock as possible. One thing that I need is a good carb guy that knows the Carter BBD carb that the car has. Your Signet most likely has the same Carter BBD if it has an automatic transmission like mine. The car stalls occasionally, and I think that it may need to be adjusted or rebuilt. I would also like to have a major tune up done just to go over all the systems that I have not had the chance to have looked at or serviced. I know that the car leaks a little oil every now and then (new valve cover gaskets?) I also forgot to mention that I had the radiator recored and upgraded to a bigger core from 2 to 3 core to help with the cooling aspect of the car. My grandfather's car always ran a little hot, never to the point of overheating, but it inched over toward "H" on occasion. Glad I was able to help you on your VIN decoding. By the way, I need to reset my signatur picture, I need to get the information on how to get my picture from Photo Island that I had on file there. Can you help? Thanks.
