Anyone use an engine lift plate anymore on aluminum intakes?

I recalled that Richard Ehrenbooger, SAE, tech advisor for Mopar Action mag, discussed this once, so I looked it up in my database. Sure enough, he said that the limiting factor is the strength of the threads in the intake manifold, and that an aluminum intake is strong enough to support even an engine with the transmission bolted up to it during installation if you use a lift plate with all four bolts installed, as long as you use the longest bolts that will fit, or preferably studs bottomed out in order to engage all the threads in the intake. cf Mopar Action, October, 2003, page 8.
